One Mile. One Family.
Ironman for Generous Basket
This June, Pastor Sergey will take on the challenge of a full Ironman triathlon — 140.6 miles of swimming, cycling, and running — and every mile is dedicated to a greater purpose: helping families in need here in Israel.
The goal is to raise $14,000, enough to support 140 families, one for every mile of the race. Each family will receive food, clothing, and hygiene products through Generous Basket, a free community store in Tel Aviv that serves over 100 families every month.
In this season of ongoing war, rising prices, and social tension, more and more people are finding themselves in crisis — especially single mothers, new immigrants, and low-income families who are struggling to make ends meet.
Why This Matters
Many of the families who come to Generous Basket are facing the harsh realities of choosing between paying rent or buying food. Others arrive carrying the weight of war trauma, unemployment, and isolation in a new country.
One of these families is a single mother named Lena, a new immigrant from Ukraine. She arrived in Israel with her two children, escaping conflict, only to face overwhelming financial hardship here. When she visited Generous Basket for the first time, she burst into tears — not just from receiving food and hygiene items, but from the feeling that someone saw her. That someone cared.
In her words:
“This basket meant more than just groceries. It meant I could breathe for one more week, and my children could feel normal for one more day.”
How You Can Help:
