Hope Amid Missiles

Updated: Jun 24

This past Friday, everything changed here in Israel.

We’ve gotten used to hearing sirens in the night, but this time was different. We didn’t know what exactly was coming, but deep down, we all felt that life was about to shift in a big way. When we heard that hundreds of missiles were heading our way from Iran, we prepared for the worst.

In just a few days, so many people have lost their homes, their stuff, and even people they love. Every night, we’ve been running into bomb shelters, hearing explosions, feeling the ground shake. It’s been intense, and honestly, heartbreaking.

It’s wild how one day the streets are full of laughter and light — and the next, everything is silent under the weight of destruction and grief. Moments like this really make you stop and ask: who are we?

We are strong.

We are resilient.

We are God’s people — and we’re here to bring Gods love, no matter how dark it gets.

Even though the ceiling of our Generous Basket store has fallen, our foundation is with God; and with God, we are stronger than ever. There are families that have lost their homes and all of their personal belongings, left with only the clothes on their back. This is why we are working around the clock to distribute clothes and food around to the areas that have been affected.

It is inspiring to see how in the face of tragedy, the people of Israel continue to show up for each other. Love has been the thread that has woven us all together to form a beautiful mosaic. And we will continue to show God’s love through our actions, our words, and our prayers. Because, “if God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31).

"For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."

Ephesians 2:10
